Academic Achievement Program

The Academic Achievement Program

The Academic Achievement Program is a part of PA Act 101’s State funded program, which was founded in 1971 by K. Leroy Irvis. He believed that all students should have access to college regardless of their socio- economic status. The program’s primary purpose is to provide support services, leadership development, a sense of community and access to cultural activities so that students may persist in college and attain a degree.

History
The Act 101 Program was established by the Higher Education Equal Opportunity Act of 1971. With funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia University, all services are provided free of charge to eligible students.
