Philadelphia University’s third episode of Runway Challenge aired March 17 at 2
p.m. on NBC10’s 10! show. This week’s challenge tested students’ ability to
design attractive, but comfortable, uniforms for members of the Philadelphia
Soul dancers.
For the challenge, the eight competitors worked a week straight to create
comfortable, wearable and versatile uniforms that incorporated the arena
football team’s signature blue and black colors. “Amazed” to have won, Fashion
Design senior Jess Gardner was declared Week Three’s winner for her fun yet
functional creation. Regarded by judges Kat and Michelle, Philadelphia Soul
dance team co-captains; Rich Lisk, Philadelphia Soul General Manager; Clara
Henry, Fashion Design Program director; and Bill Henley and Lori Wilson, 10!
hosts, as well executed, Gardner’s garment won for its sleek lines and symmetry.
Unfortunately, during the judging Emily O’Neill was cut out of the competition
for her sparkly and shiny ensemble.
With barely enough time to recover from the last test, the contestants will
tackle plus-size designs for next week’s Lane Bryant challenge. The remaining
seven student designers will focus their energy on fashion, not size, in
recreating the “little black dress” from black knitwear for the plus-size
women's clothing retailer. Find out who’s a cut above the rest, and who’s cut
out, next week at 2 p.m. on NBC10’s 10! show. |
