What will you write about?
|
Once you understand the assignment, you need to decide on a topic. To help with ideas: |
![]() |
- Talk to your instructor: use your PhilaU email to contact them and always include a Subject line in your message, such as "TEXT-301: question about assignment"
- Visit your instructor during their office hours: make an appointment first
- Make an appointment with a tutor at the Learning and Advising Center in Haggar Hall
- Browse for topics in periodicals in the current periodicals section of the library, on the Main Floor
- Do some exploratory searches in a multidisciplinary online database system such as ProQuest, and read abstracts or explore the Topic Search. This can help you to quickly get a feel for some of the major themes and issues surrounding your topic
- Explore the Facts.com Suite of databases: World News
Digest, Issues & Controversies, or Today's Science,
to see if there is any background information on your
chosen topic (More about using electronic
databases is in the module called Finding Articles)
