Making the Most of Subject Searching

The disadvantage to subject searching is that it's hard to know what LCSH terms will used be for a topic. girl looking for book
A good strategy is:
  1. First, use your own terms in a General Keyword search
  2. Then look at the records for books that are on your topic
  3. Jot down any good Subject terms that are listed in the catalog record and use them later in Subject searches, or
  4. Click on the linked Subject term from the catalog record
