As Director of the PhilaU M.S. in GeoDesign program, I welcome you to our website. You are actually visiting the website of the very first M.S. in GeoDesign program in the world! And you could be a part of this exciting endeavor!
PhilaU’s M.S. in GeoDesign program has a mission of sustainable, collaborative and innovative urban planning and design. Our GeoDesign program is intended for design and planning students, using GIS tools, to find solutions to 21st-century urban conditions such as population growth, decreasing resources, disaster mitigation and climate change.
Our graduates will be proficient in a GeoDesign approach to assessment, planning, design and management processes that are critical to solving immediate and longer term urban issues. Using GIS related tools, students in the program will work on collaborative, interdisciplinary teams and will be actively engaged in applied research projects supported by industry, federal and state grants, and community partnerships.
GeoDesign is sustainability in practice, and our graduates will be leaders in this innovative process.
Our new M.S. in GeoDesign launched in Fall 2013. We are off to a great start and held our first GeoDesign Forum on October 4, 2013. We will host our first GeoDesign Workshop in June 2014.
Please contact me with any questions that you might have about our program or GeoDesign/GIS career opportunities. Also, I would love to meet you in person and give you a tour of our facilities and have you meet our students and faculty.
Best wishes,
Claudia Phillips, PhD, FASLA, FCELA
