Student Event Information

We encourage students to hold events on campus! It is a fun and enjoyable learning experience for the students.

We at Media Services and OIR can provide the students with many devices to help facilitate the event, such as cameras, extra speakers, microphones, netbooks, laptops, Podium PC, Computer Carts, and more! But a student must have Sponsor. That sponsor can be a club sponsor, a professor, or staff member.

If a student wishes to host an event on campus, please place a work order to the Technology Help Desk. That individual will be responsible for placing the support request and acting as the point of contact for the event.

 

How to Get OIR Help

If you are having trouble with a piece of equipment that has been checked out, or in the middle of giving a presentation for class, an OIR staff member will work to resolve the issue quickly and efficiently so you as a student may continue with you education.

If you require assistance with equipment use or setup, or are having trouble accessing one of the various software packages on University computers do not hesitate to call the Technology Help Desk. A Help Desk Agent will inform an OIR staff member immediately of any dilemma you may have and OIR staff member will be dispatched to help resolve the issue immediately.

 

Kanbar Information

If a student wishes to have an event held in the Kanbar Campus Center that student must place a work order to the Technology Help Desk.

That student must have a Sponsor, which can be a club sponsor, a professor, or another staff member. A student must have a faculty or staff sponsor ready when placing a work order to the Technology Help Desk.

That individual will be responsible for placing the support request and acting as the point of contact for the event. If there are any issues that occur in the Kanbar Campus Center notify the Technology Help Desk.

A Help Desk Agent will inform a Kanbar Campus Center staff member immediately of any dilemma you may have and that staff member will be dispatched to help resolve the issue immediately.

 

Podium Information

As a student you are able to utilize the Podium PC and Computer Carts that exist around the University campus. To log into these computers enter your username, which is your last name and the last four numbers of your student ID.

The Podium PC and Computer Carts will also contain various pieces of equipment that will also expand the student’s use of technology. Fixed to the various Podium PC and Computer Carts are DVD players, a cable to attach your VGA capable laptop, VHS player, and a Document Camera.

All of these devices are all connected to the ceiling mounted projectors that will allow you to display your PowerPoint lectures, videos, and documents, to enhance the classroom experience.

Policies

We are always looking for the most up-to-date equipment for the University environment to utilize. And because of this we have different policies in place for different items with our Red, Blue, and Specialty tag system.
