Biographical Summary:
Matt Dane Baker has been involved in physician assistant education for greater than
22 years. He is currently employed in education as a professor and dean of the School
of Science and Health at Philadelphia University, and was the program director of
the physician assistant program there for ten years. He has worked clinically as
a physician assistant (PA) for 23 years in geriatrics, cardiac rehabilitation, family
medicine, otorhinolaryngology/head and neck surgery, psychiatry and occupational
medicine. He has also worked extensively in health care administration and has participated
in research. He has over 20 years of military service and currently serves part-time
as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard. He has taught extensively in
Physician Assistant Education Association’s faculty development seminars including
the Basic Faculty Skills Workshop, Enhanced Faculty Skills Workshop, and the Leadership
Training Program for Program Directors. Additionally, he served as a site visitor
for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
Dr. Baker received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with additional
study in science, a Bachelor of Science and Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies,
a Master of Science in Gerontology, and a Doctor of Health Science. He did additional
graduate study in counseling psychology and exercise physiology. His academic interests
include pathophysiology, biological and chemical terrorism, geriatrics, cardiology,
and geriatric psychiatry
