Welcome! Our goal is to make you feel
Philadelphia University is your second home. The Office of
Commuter Services (OCS) provides resources and facilities to
meet the basic needs of commuter and off-campus students. We
provide engagement opportunities to assist commuter and
off-campus students and promote learning and development. OCS
assists commuters and off-campus students in connecting them
with the PhilaU community and one another through various
programs and leadership initiatives. The main vehicles in
connecting commuters to campus are the OCS Staff and the
Association of Commuting Students (ACS).
ACS is a student-run organization that provides a forum for
off-campus and commuter students to voice concerns and issues
that affect those who do not live on campus. It is also a
channel for off-campus and commuter students to sponsor PhilaU
activities and events in order to integrate with other members
of the campus community. ACS meets every other Tuesday at Noon
in Kanbar 302. A Facebook group can be found
online.

COMMUTER AND OFF-CAMPUS STUDENT TIPS AND REMINDERS
As commuter students you have the opportunity to get involved
with your fellow classmates in many ways. As a freshman, you are
automatically a part of our First Year Experience (FYE) Program.
This program is designed to help you transition from high school
to college and also give you the opportunity to learn and grow
beside your fellow freshmen. You are strongly encouraged to
participate in the FYE activities.
All Commuter Students must validate their Student ID each
semester. This validation sticker lists the semester and year
and is required to obtain a parking pass, utilize the library
and visit the residence halls. Please see the Kanbar Campus
Center Welcome and Information Desk to validate your Student ID.
If you are driving your own vehicle to campus, you must obtain a
Parking Permit. Parking Permits are distributed by the Office of
Safety and Security on the Ravenhill Campus. A campus map of
approved Commuter Student parking will also be given to you.
Please abide by the parking regulations outlined in the
brochure.
Public transportation information is available. SEPTA (South
East Pennsylvania Transportation Association) is a regional
public authority that operates various forms of public transit-
bus, subway, elevated rail, regional rail, light rail, and
electric trolley bus in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It serves the combined city and county of Philadelphia, Delaware
County, Montgomery County, Bucks County, and Chester County.
SEPTA also serves New Castle County in Delaware, and Mercer
County in New Jersey. SEPTA bus routes, trains schedules and
area maps should prove to be helpful to many commuter students,
and can be found at the Kanbar Campus Center Welcome and
Information Desk in the Kanbar Campus Center. SEPTA tokens are
also sold there.
Commuter Students who are interested in changing their status
from Commuter to Resident should contact the
Office of Residence Life.
For additional Commuter and Off-Campus Student information and
