Sitting at my desk, that are stacked with texted books, storage bins,  posted notes and other school supplies,  I still can not believe  that  I am no longer at the top of the pyramid as a  high school senior but  now,  at the bottom  of the  food chain as Diamond Newman, the college  freshman. I still can not believe that I am now living on my own and that I am on the journey of defining who I am in a society full of a variety of personas and laying down the foundation for my future professional success. Though I am still experiencing surrealism from this life change, I feel at home and at ease as a resident student, here, at Philadelphia University and if the first week is representative of how my life is changing for the best, than I have no complaints.

Ever since my mother, my aunt and one of my close friends dropped me off into this world called, Philadelphia University, I have experienced happiness, disbelief, excitement, and confusion. I also experienced the normal and well encountered, feeling of being homesick.
