University Ambassador Bio

Name: Erike
Major: Architecture w/photography minor
Year: Junior
Hometown: Humble, Texas

  Tell me about your major:
Architecture is a major that will allow you not only to be an architect, there are so many opportunities that you can enjoy. One reason I chose this major is because I am interested in set/scenic design for the theatre, and some of the best set designers are architects. We build models, sketch non-stop, observe everything and anything to find our next concept for our projects, and enjoy each other’s company in the studio hours upon hours at a time. It’s what makes it great!

Why did you become an Ambassador?
I became an Ambassador because I want other students and new students to really enjoy our campus. Philadelphia University is more than just a college campus, it’s an experience.

Are you a member of any clubs or organizations?
Most certainly. I am currently the Chapter President of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) on campus, a Resident Assistant (RA) on campus, my second year; I am the Stage Manager and acting in the Vagina Monologues, it’s my third year involved in Gemini Theatre, last year was the Project Producer. Also, helping start DCMS, the Design Coalition for Minority Students, on campus. And I am in the Honors Program, I think that’s the end of my list.

What do you like about Philadelphia University?
I love the environment here, from my studies and program, to the studio, the people, organizations, professors, and our location. I love how we’re not quite in the city but close enough to be right in it. I love all the things I can do on campus to really make difference and above all the support of both students and professors to really grow on campus as a student and an individual.

Do you have any advice for prospective students on tour?
Never shy away from questions. Just ask, I have no problem asking questions. Also, let us know what you want to see. Let us know your major and we’ll show you want you need to know for your major. I love to show students where they will be working and taking classes.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Enjoy the city. See shows, walk around the city until no end, and just breathe everything in. Oh yeah, and SLEEP.

Do you like Philadelphia cheesesteak? If so, where can I find the best cheesesteak?
Yes I do. But I couldn’t really tell you where you can find the best. There are so many places to go to.
