Tell me about your major:
Graphic Design is a major that allows you to use
your creativity. The ‘Communication’ part of the
major refers to how graphic designers try to
visually communicate a message using images or text.
It’s a really hands on major, where you do a lot of
drawing, sketching, researching, and using the
computer, and pretty much any kind of design element
that allows you to use your imagination. I like the
major because there are so many different fields out
there that relate to graphic design, whether it is
illustration, creating logos, advertising, package
design and everything in between.
Why did you become an
Ambassador?
I became an Ambassador because I wanted to share
my great experience I have had so far at
Philadelphia University with others.
Are you a member of any
clubs or organizations?
I am a member of AIGA - American Institute for
Graphic Arts. There is a chapter for the city of
Philadelphia, and the University has its own student
chapter which is part of that.
What do you like about Philadelphia University?
There are many things I enjoy about Philadelphia
University. The location is one of my favorite
aspects. I enjoy the fact that I am away from home
in the “city” of Philadelphia, but really when
walking around campus, you can not tell that you are
remotely close to the city. I feel right at home at
Philadelphia University because it is nice community
with suburban houses surrounding the campus which
gives me the feel that I am safe and not far from
home. But it is only a short, 10 minute drive to the
actual city if you want make the trip. All in all,
the location is very convenient and ideal. Also, I
like that we are a smaller school, which allows you
to get to know your professors as well as the
students in your classes. Having a professional
relationship with your professors is ideal and the
smaller class sizes allows for this relationship to
happen.
Do you have any advice for prospective students
on tour?
I would suggest asking a lot of questions…no
question is a silly question! And stay positive even
though the college search can be stressful.
What do you like to do in
your free time?
In my free time I like to hang out with my
friends and watch movies. I also like to go into the
city and explore new things or go out to eat at
different and exciting restaurants. I like
scrapbooking or any kind of art related activity,
and like every girl, I love shopping!
Do you like Philadelphia cheesesteak? If so,
where can I find the best cheesesteak?
I like Jim’s cheesesteaks on South Street the
best. But you have to get there before the line
starts to come out the door and wrap around the
block!
