IN MEMORIAM Amber Long ’11 The Philadelphia University community was saddened by the tragic death of Amber Long, a 2011 graduate of the Architecture program. Amber was shot and killed Jan. 19 during a robbery, while she was walking with her mother in Philadelphia. Amber Long was a talented architect and artist, working in her chosen field at NEST Architecture in Center City, Philadelphia, at the time of her death. As a student, she was part of a team that won the grand prize for overall excellence in the 2009 Delaware Valley Green Building Council student design competition. She further developed her artistic and architectural talents by spending a semester abroad in Rome. Philadelphia University hosted a celebration of Amber Long’s life on campus March 29, bringing together her family, friends, fellow Architecture graduates, colleagues, and faculty and staff to share memories of Amber and reference the positive impact she had on so many in her too-short life. To honor her memory and celebrate her life, Philadelphia University has established the Amber Long ’11 Scholarship Fund to help future deserving architecture students at PhilaU. The University has been notified that the following individuals have passed away and extends its sincerest condolences to their families.
