This collaborative project between landscape architecture students and architecture students was based on the concept on creating a sustainable community by: - providing increased pedestrian activity and connectivity within and out of the community - reduce vehicular traffic through better connections to alternative transportation - reduce impervious surfaces to reduce heat island effects and manage stormwater - increasing public recreation space to promote healthy living for all ages. - improve air quality by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases through the planting of trees - increase biodiversity within the community through new green spaces and parks. - provide opportunities for social gathering spaces. - reduce and reuse stormwater - provide opportunities to share resources both in and outside of the community
