Textile Engineering Program Earns National Engineering Accreditation

The University recently received accreditation for its Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Engineering from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). This academic program joins an elite group of ABET-accredited programs offered in the U.S.
“Philadelphia University is thrilled to join the prestigious group of engineering programs accredited by ABET. This is further recognition of the University’s outstanding professional programs,” said Dr. Carol Fixman, vice president for Academic Affairs and dean of the Faculty.

“Textile engineering is personally and professionally rewarding – a field of engineering where one can practice a wide range of activities that benefit society,” said David Brookstein, Sc.D., dean of the School of Textiles and Materials Technology at Philadelphia University. “Textile engineers develop and produce products for consumer goods and a wide range of high-performance systems such as life-saving artificial arteries and other biomedical devices, aerospace fibrous composites, automotive products, and protective clothing for the military, law-enforcement officers, and rigorous outdoor activities.”
