Thank you for  partnering with the Career Services Center for the resume writing assignment.  You’ll see that part of the assignment involves each student uploading his resume to our online job posting system called CareerLink.  Once a resume is approved on CareerLink, students are free to apply for positions and employers will be able to view their resumes.  For that reason, we will be reviewing the resumes of your students very closely to be sure they are uploading resumes that best market and represent their skills, accomplishments and the university.

Resume Assignment, – Faculty Instructions/Guidelines:

  1. Contact Bryan Barts in the Career Services Center.  Schedule a time for a Career Services representative to present resume writing and the use of CareerLink.

  2. Distribute Student Instructions including the request that students bring a copy of their resume to class on that day.

  3. Reinforce with students the resume deadline of two weeks after the presentation or as you have assigned. If you wish to establish your own date, you may do so.  You will collect the email notification issued from CareerLink when a resume is approved.(see sample of notification below.)  When students upload their resumes to CareerLink they will receive one of two emailed responses.

Students whose resumes are approved receive the following:
Congratulations!  Your recently uploaded resume has been approved.

You are now free to apply for positions you find on CareerLink.
Please click here to log into your account www.ecampusrecruiter.com/philau

Students whose resumes are not approved (that is, not fit for employer’s eyes) will receive a message similar to the following with specific feedback regarding required edits or a suggestion to make an appointment:

After careful review, your resume has NOT been approved for use on CareerLink.  Please call the Career Services Center (215-951-2930) to make an appointment to have your resume reviewed by a counselor.

  4. The approved message is dated and clearly states that the resume is approved by Career Services.  Any extensions to the deadline to accept approval notices are to be determined by individual faculty.
