Each semester, the Career Services Center presents workshops to prepare students for their internship experience. The series of workshops focuses on topics to enhance the student's current or future internship experience. Material reviewed in these workshops helps ensure that students are putting their best foot forward in their internships, while developing them professionally in order to be well-positioned for potential full-time opportunities. Past workshop topics have included: Making the Most of Your Internship, Workplace Communication Skills, and Presentation Skills: Tips to Success.

Students who are currently completing internships for academic credit are expected to attend the Professional Development workshops offered each semester as part of the internship course, however all students who are currently interning or intending to pursue an internship in the future are encouraged to attend these sessions. Faculty who are interested in participating in the facilitation of these workshops, or who are interested in scheduling a presentation by Career Services to their students should contact the Career Services Center (215.951.2930) for more information.

• Important Factors for Students to Consider before Interning

When meeting with students who express interest in pursuing an internship, faculty are encouraged to guide students in considering the following:

• Academic internship vs. internship independent of the University
• Internship location
• Paid vs. unpaid
• Hours per week required
• Relation to major and/or career goals
• Projects, presentations and overall depth of responsibilities
• Training, supervision and evaluation offered
• Exposure to other individuals in the organization
• Opportunities for full-time employment
