WORKING FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT: Locating Opportunities


 

There are several ways to find opportunities in the federal government, including CareerLink – that’s right, some government agencies specifically want to recruit Philadelphia University students! 

In addition to CareerLink, listed below are several resources that can help you as you search for an internship or full-time job in this sector of the economy.

This website will serve as your one-stop shop for the federal job search process and you can find information for just about anything related to working in the federal government. 

     Site features include:
        a)  A “Hot Jobs” section
        b)  An internship database and guide for student programs
        c)  Agency profiles
        d)  Information on how to write a federal resume and KSA’s
        e)  Resources about obtaining security clearances
         f)  Information about student loan repayment programs

    The United States government's official web portal – a particularly helpful section of this site is the A-Z Agency Index (quick link located on the right-hand side of the page).  Use this site in order to research the specific agencies for whom you might want to work.

    “The Best Places to Work rankings are the most comprehensive and authoritative rating and analysis of employee satisfaction and commitment in the federal government.   • USAJOBS.gov
    USAJOBS.gov is the federal government’s official job site and can provide you not only with postings for full-time positions, but can also allow you the opportunity to browse a list of all of the federal agencies and gain access to their specific websites. 


  • studentjobs.gov
    studentjobs.gov is the federal government’s official site for internship postings.
