Using Eportfolio to Document Your Professional Development

[ePortfolio Tips and Strategies]

Quick Start Guide to Digication

In order to use Digication to create an ePortfolio, contact the Career Services Center via phone (215.951.2930) to request an account.  Once your account has been established, you will receive an email containing log-in instructions.

Using Digication to set up your portfolio:
Establish the organization of your portfolio before you begin.  We have provided a suggested template that you can use to get started.  To access the template from your home page:

  1. On the Digication Home Page, under My ePortfolios, click on the Create button
  2. On the Portfolio Settings Page, click on Choose a Template
  3. Scroll through the list of templates, and click on the circle to the left of the Career Services Center template, then click Save.  You will be prompted to create a name for your ePortfolio

Note:  While you’re working on your ePortfolio, keep it private. Once it is complete, change the setting under Portfolio Tools.  Click Settings and then Portfolio Settings and Tagging to edit the visibility of your portfolio.

Name Function Steps
Section These appear across the top of your porftolio and serve as a table of contents for the reader. They are the general themes your convey to the reader about yourself. Click on Edit tab and click View Sections tab and then Add/Edit tab.  Click Add a Section button and type name of new section.  Click Save button.
Pages These appear within each section along the left margin. Click on the section under which you want to put pages.  Click the Add/Edit tab next to the View Pages tab.  Click Add Page button and type name of page.  Click Save.
Modules This is where you add content for each section or page.  You can add text, videos, websites, podcasts and PowerPoint presentations within a module.

Within a page, click “Add/Edit” button and click “Add  A Module” button.  Look at list of options under Basic menu, select option and click “Add This Module” button.  Click “I’m Done” and then edit text to appear in the module.  Spellcheck, click Save; click the Publish tab and then click the Publish button.

To add documents in your Gallery:  save Word documents to PDFs then convert to JPEGs for the best resolution.

Below are suggested sections included in the template that you can incorporate into your ePortfolio.  The sections should reflect those qualities and experiences you want to call to the reader’s attention, making it easy for them to find the best you have to offer.  This could require some additional thought than what you’ve given to your resume since you have considerable more “room” to communicate your talents.  Just as you’ve written your resume for the reader, be sure to keep the reader of your ePortfolio in mind.
