Events & Exhibitions |
The last several weeks have been fairly eventful. Probably the most interesting occurrence for myself was that of being hit by a car. Luckily I came out unscathed but the incident was certainly frightening and a first to say the least. While crossing an intersection with stop signs on every corner and a crosswalk I was immediately aware of an SUV grill closing in. As it became apparent that the vehicle wasn’t going to stop I tried jumping up to avoid being pulled under. Like a stuntman I rolled over the hood and landed on my feet. Somehow I did not even have as much as a bruise as a result.
Besides being assaulted by automobiles I have recently taken several trips both work related or otherwise. Upon hearing that the industrial design department at school was having an opening for the new facilities I was intend on attending. Weeks beforehand I had missed my scheduled discussion with the senior class due to illness. Unfortunately I also missed this chance to view the new studios as I left New York too late. One of our lighting fixtures has been providing numerous problems that we are having difficulty resolving. Before leaving the city I was determined to fix an installation at an event space. At this point I am probably the most capable person in repairing these lighting units and yet the job still proved difficult. After leaving later than schedule SEPTA did the rest in ensuring that I could not possibly make it to the school on time. Perhaps I’ll view the new studios during the senior show next semester.
Another trip that I await is our potential involvement in a Frankfurt trade show. A definite decision has not yet been made however I am excited about the possibility. As I understand the situation the entire team would be flown to Germany and stay in Frankfurt for at least 3 days. We would set up the booth and also work the trade show, speaking about our products and company services as well. After the exhibition I would like to take advantage of the situation and use several vacations days remaining in Europe. Our intern is from Denmark and I could head north and spend some time in his country. It has only been several months since I was in Germany however I can not wait to get back.
