Week Ending 4/4/09
This week we are closing the line for Holiday 2009. Part of being the Assistant Merchandiser is to be prepared for all presentations. I arrived early today to make any final changes or updates. We will be meeting design before we show our line to the Executives.
Line review went very well!

Week Ending 4/11/09
This week we had a strike-off meeting, which lasted about three hours. The meeting was with our core graphic designers to review our fall 09 samples. It went well and the samples look great, aside from a few small adjustments. After a long meeting, hunger starts to kick-in, so I’m going to get some lunch and some fresh air with a few team members. I think I want sushi- Yum!

When we got back from lunch my supervisor and I sat down to do our long sleeve and thermal buys for Holiday 09. I really enjoy this part of the job! Now that line close is finalized, we will be working hand in hand with our planners to make the best and most accurate buys based on past seasons and future projections. After a week or so of shifting our numbers, they are finalized and then we have sell review. We will then be presenting to the Executives.

Now that I have better understanding of my responsibilities as an Assistant Merchandiser, my supervisor is training me more in the financial portion of our business. The financial part is not something I will be able to master over night but I know I am ready for this challenge. It is so interesting to me.
