As I approach my halfway mark it is hard to believe the internship is halfway over. This summer has gone by faster then any previous summer. I have really strived to take advantage of all the opportunities this summer and meet as many people as possible. It is proving to be a success as I am having a blast so far.

This week was a short week, due to the holiday, but none-the-less busy as my department approached their final adoption meeting. I spent a good amount of time this week finalizing all plans for the Stuff the Bus fundraiser that the interns are running. All signs are to be posted by Thursday afternoon, for everyone to see before the holiday weekend. All our marketing was completed as well as the details for the two events we will be hosting. There will be a bake sale and an AM donut wake up sale. For every item donated or dollar spent during a sale the person will receive a raffle ticket, in their name. The drawing will be held at the end of the two week campaign and two winners will receive a gift card to either American Express or iTunes. We thought this was a great incentive to thank people who have donated and helped a great cause. All the interns are very excited to see the success of the fundraiser, as in past years it has only been at the Bridgewater location, not New York.

The people in my department were very busy this week regarding concerns to the final adoption meeting and I found myself short of projects. With this downtime I decided to go around my floor and offer my assistance. I ended up helping the accessory department with checking in all their TOP (top of production) samples. One associate is out on vacation and they began to pile up very fast. This was a great way for me to reach out and form new relationships and learn new aspects of the business. I was able to see all the new products coming in and how to keep a close eye on how well the product was constructed. At the time of checking in TOPs you are to relay any manufacturing issues to the vendor so they can be resolved before production.

In relation to the MBA internship course, I have completed the next paper assignment, which was an industry analysis. I can’t believe that I only have the final project left. I am hoping to gain a lot of insight during these final weeks to apply to the creation of my project. I haven’t finalized my idea yet for the paper but I would really like to continue with my PVH intern project from last year. I would like to do more research and present greater detail to the execution of the idea. It is a project I am very proud of and would love to continue working with it.
I also worked with the marketing department to finalize the layout for our specialty stores. These few stores are our prime locations and receive different merchandise then the outlets. They receive a special array of merchandise, at times more fashion forward than our normal Bass shopper.

Next week we have a new assistant starting, who was an intern for three years. I am hoping to learn a lot as they will be training her in the systems and all facets of the business. It will be a great sneak peak of what my first job would be like and can hopefully give me a jump start into a future buying position.
