Not as much to write about this week as I sprained my foot and ankle last Friday and as a result had to take Monday off and have been somewhat chained to my desk, hopefully leading to a faster recovery.
When I got back into the office on Tuesday we concluded the Stuff the Bus fundraiser by announcing the two raffle winners. The prizes were a $25 gift card to VISA or iTUNES. We ended up receiving a lot of donations last minute which made me very happy. I was worried we were only receiving monetary donations because there was food involved and all our hard work on the collection bins went to the wayside.
As mentioned in a prior entry, Bass had a pair of denim jeans with a defective button. After we realized that it was not just a mistake on one pair but rather the whole production line, I worked with the stores to make sure they shipped them all back to our distribution center in Jonesville, NC, where they would be corrected and shipped back to the stores. In the mean time Bass stores will receive the next shipment of denim to replace the defective ones. It is a shame there was a production mistake because as I spoke with store managers they were telling me how consumers loved the product aside from the faulty button. Luckily the new denim will be in route to the stores this week so hopefully consumers will try the jeans again and we will achieve the same sales.
Again, I have been working closely with the accessories buyers as they have a lot work. I consistently checked in TOPs again this week as well as going through the product storage areas and removing old product. During the Bass “In It to Win It” meeting last Friday our floor set up a mock shop, in order to always be able to see what the customer is seeing. With the new addition to our floor I have been pulling accessory product that will be placed into the mock shop, which we placed in the “shop” on Thursday.
I have also been working hard this week to make connections with our business partners in India, in hopes of setting up a corporate visit with them while the MBA class travels to India next March. I am in talks with two large companies, Reliance and Triburg in an effort to schedule a trip of their corporate headquarters and factory. It seems like we are making strides to scheduling a date. I hope everything ends up working out and a great visit can be planned.
This weekend I will be visiting Philadelphia. I am excited to be back with my roommates and spend some time in the wonderful city!
