Hi again! Hope everyone’s summer is going fantastic. I currently just completed my first full week interning with NBC. My experiences so far have been nothing than great!

On Monday, we each got our set times when our weekly one-on-one meetings will be held. Later that morning, we also had our first group meeting discussing the TravelSkoot website and events that will be happening soon on the site. It was great to get to hear everyone’s thoughts on the site and also voice where could further market TravelSkoot.

I spent the remainder of my day continuing work on my individual projects. I am currently working on an advertisement that will appear on another one of our sites, iVillage. Our hopes are that ads such as these will attract more users to our site. I’ll also be working on a specific banner that welcomes new users to the website, graphics for the newsletter, and maybe some polls that will appear on sites such as Facebook.

Wednesday morning was my first one-on-one meeting with my internship leader Dominique. I know that I am going to really enjoy these meetings because they’re a great chance to ask whatever questions I may have, and she can find out how I’m doing so far. In a friendly department such as mine, I do not hesitate to ask questions if I need help with anything. Everyone always offers their assistance. Later that morning we were invited to a phone conference with a travel expert, who discussed what’s going on in the travel business and trends that are occurring. It was a great opportunity to hear a professional’s personal research and be able to apply that information to our website.

On Wednesday afternoon, the TravelSkoot interns met with the iVillage group and we had our first meeting together. We worked with the Marketing and PR interns from iVillage and brainstormed our different ideas on how to promote the site. It’s exciting coming up with ideas that you think will grab the attention of online users and figure out what will be successful.

We have Summer Fridays at our office, which means that Fridays are a half day! It’s great being able to start my weekend a little early, or even venture off into the city. The Food Network Studios and testing kitchens are also in our building. An intern in my group was on the elevator with Bobby Flay. You never know who you’ll run into in the city!

Until next week, thanks for reading and best wishes!
