July 9th, 2009

Thanks for following along with my summer internship. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July and enjoyed the sunshine!
This may be the busiest summer I've had in awhile with interning and working on the weekends at a new restaurant in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. But as my internship makes way into its 7th week, I'm becoming more familiar with my steady work schedule. Last week I spent most of my days in and out of meetings with our group discussing events happening on the site, and finishing the final Sweepstakes logo for the "Blissful Beach Day" theme. I try to take full advantage of setting up meetings so that I can receive feedback on the logo I'm designing. The creative director here is always helpful and offers ideas to better any areas of designing that I'm having difficulties with.

On Wednesday afternoon I met again with my group for the "Reel Intern Contest." I don't want to give away too much information, however I will say that we have been contacting well-known NBC talents to appear in our video reel. So far we've received great responses and our week of shooting will start next Monday. I can't wait to start filming around the NBC studios and Rockefeller Center and plan out the video reel!
Along with my work here in graphic design, I'm also getting to take part in marketing and PR projects as well. This side of the internship has sparked my interest in communications and marketing. I love not only being able to create a design such as the weekly Sweepstakes logo, but also be able to see how to properly promote the contest and the site.

Our group experienced a successful second quarter, and the site managers and leaders treated the team to dinner after work. The interns in our group were kindly invited as well so we joined them at Japanese-style garden area at The Park Restaurant right in Chelsea. The team is always very welcoming and it was a nice way to relax from a hectic week.

Have a great week and keep checking out www.TravelSkoot.com/summersweeps for updates in the Sweepstakes!
