Creating Agendas for Meetings

It is the mentee’s responsibilities to create agendas for scheduled meetings.  The agenda should be sent 48 hours in advance of the meeting so the mentor has time to review what you’ll be discussing and conduct any prep needed.  It might be helpful to have consistent topics or categories to discuss.  Possible topics could include:

  • Goals identified from prior session(s) – update on progress
  • Challenges or concerns
  • Obstacles
  • New goals

Always take notes during your meetings to summarize what you learned and any next steps.  Additionally, don’t assume your mentor will necessarily remember everything you discussed at a previous meeting - be prepared to summarize the high-level details as a reminder.
