About the Program

From their very first classes at PhilaU, students in the B.S. in Chemistry program are engaged in research. Freshmen gain research experience through laboratory activities with faculty members and by collaborating with upper-level students. By their junior year, our students are working on independent research projects, presenting at conferences, and publishing in peer review journals. Students receive further experience through off-campus partnerships with organizations such as the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.

With our innovative curriculum that blends the liberal arts and sciences, students learn chemistry in the context of global issues, such as sustainability and the environment. Using real world data, our faculty takes a discovery-learning approach in the classroom that delivers plenty of hands-on laboratory experience. Students in the chemistry program at PhilaU acquire a unique combination of research and laboratory skills, giving them an edge whether they pursue a professional career or graduate degree in the sciences.
