Academic Honors
Undergraduate academic honors will be announced with students’ names as they cross the stage. Cum Laude honors is a cumulative GPA of 3.6-3.69, Magna Cum Laude is a cumulative GPA of 3.7-3.79, and Summa Cum Laude is a final average of 3.8 or better. Graduate students do not receive academic honors.
For undergraduate students completing their degree in May and August 2013, honors will be based on the cumulative GPA from the Fall 2012 semester.
For students enrolled in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, honors will be based on the cumulative GPA from the Fall 2 2012 term. However, Continuing and Professional Studies students with cumulative GPAs less than 3.6 from the Fall 2 term, whose cumulative GPAs increase to 3.6 or higher as a result of Spring 1 2013 grades, MUST contact the Provost’s Office via email (commencement@PhilaU.edu) by April 5, 2013 to request that honors be recognized at graduation.
Honors reflected on students’ transcripts and diplomas will be based on the actual cumulative GPA at the time of degree completion.
Additional awards are presented at the annual University Award Ceremony and during Commencement.
