ARTREACHARTREACH, Inc., founded in 1986, is a small nonprofit organization dedicated to joining the arts and special audiences. ARTREACH operates out of an office in East Falls, and is the only program in the Philadelphia area making the arts accessible to people with physical or mental disabilities, those who are economically disadvantaged, and the elderly in need. For over fourteen years, ARTREACH has distributed donated and discounted tickets to performing arts events and museums, as well as provided in-facility performers to participating agencies and schools for on-site performances. In addition to coordinating the relationships between arts and human service organizations, ARTREACH, Inc. has recently produced Access the Arts etc. . . A Guide for People with Disabilities, a publication that lists accessibility for people with disabilities, as well as for those who are deaf and blind, of cultural venues and organizations. ARTREACH is operated by three full-time staff members and a cadre of volunteers who serve as representatives at events and provide office support. We seek a Service Corps student to provide part-time assistance in our office; the student can also expand her service learning beyond her Work Study hours by acting as a volunteer representative at ARTREACH events.
