COLLEGIATE CHALLENGE

Students in Greensboro,AL proudly display their work.
What exactly is a
Collegiate Challenge?
History of past projects
The Collegiate Challenge is exactly that: An alternative to your normal,
run-of-the-mill Spring Break. As one student poetically put it, the Alternative
Spring Break is "...a better time than I would have had on an MTV
infested beach."
In 1999 a group of volunteers
traveled from Philadelphia University to Kentucky to work with Habitat for
Humanity. In
the Spring of 2000 a group of volunteers traveled to Hartford Connecticut to
work with the Habitat for Humanity
affiliate there.
In 2002 the Philadelphia University team traveled down
to Columbus, Georgia! After 16 long hours and 7 states, we joined 19 other
colleges and universities (close to 350 students total) from
around the country. The goal of the week: Build 12 houses in 5 days
and guess what it happened! Our trip was amazing and definitely
memorable.
In 2004
the Philadelphia University Habitat for Humanity students
traveled 9 hours to Statesville, NC! We started our very own
house and although we did not finish the house entirely, the
experience was AWESOME!
In 2005 students went to Syracuse, New York and boy was it freezing. Take a look at project pics to see them in action!
