Habitat for Humanity - Philadelphia

Habitat for Humanity – Philadelphia seeks to build and rehabilitate houses and neighborhoods by providing simple, affordable homes in Philadelphia for families who otherwise could not afford homes of their own. Reaching out from Christian roots across denominational, faith, economical and racial lines, Habitat works in partnership with prospective homeowners and community organizations. Habitat for Humanity strives to keep the cost of houses low by making the fullest possible use of volunteers labor and donated materials

Work-Study Position Description

  • Students will be working hands-on as Construction interns at our work sites under the guidance of HFH’s construction manager. Students learn most of the basic skills necessary to rehab a single-family home. Students will also be given the opportunity to act in leadership roles as crew leaders with unskilled volunteers.
  • Students will be supervised by Shelly Halloran – Program Director of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia
  • Students will also be required to adhere to all guidelines and regulations set by the Community Service Office, which will be explained by the Community Service Coordinator.
