At Community Accountants... |
I contact new clients as we receive them to make sure they qualify for our services. The next step is to find an accountant/CPA that is willing to volunteer to take this client. Then I send out agreement letters to the client and volunteer instructions and task agreements to the volunteer. I also forward "Ask an Accountant" questions to our CPA's and accountants, as well as referral for organizations that do not qualify for our services. We also receive donations and those need to be copied and have a code put on, and then I send them to our central office where our finances are taken care of. One of the other typical tasks is organizing and expanding our program. We are currently trying to contact local colleges and high schools to teach basic financial literacy classes, this also is extended to artists and the economically disadvantaged. |
| I wanted to do community service because... |
It was a great opportunity to help the community, and it also helped me to get my name out to CPA's and accountants in the Philadelphia area. There are many opportunities in Community Service that can really help your future and most people don't realize that and never take advantage how helping other can help themselves. |
| What is most satisfying about working for through Community Service is... |
looking at how small these non-profits once were and to see where they are now. I just think to myself, "Wow, we really helped these guys out from when there were just starting and look how big they are now." |
