Day of Service will be in place of classes on Tuesday, Sept. 15. All undergraduate classes are cancelled, both day and evening. Graduate and part-time evening student classes will meet as scheduled in the evening.
This year all sign-ups were online. Those who have not registered and/or been assigned a volunteer service project should go to the registration table Tuesday, Sept. 15 morning to be placed in a project. The registration table will be located on the patio outside of the Kanbar Campus Center Living Room.
Faculty may choose to require a class project as part of the curriculum or as a class-bonding experience. You are not required to do either. You may simply wish to urge students to participate in any project of their liking.
If you choose to develop a project for your class, whether tied to your curriculum or as a team-building exercise, please fill out the Project Proposal Form. Please complete the form and send to Carmel Madonna in Student Life by Aug. 17 or as soon after as possible.
Here are the major points to remember:
- Day classes are cancelled on Sept. 15.
- You may choose to develop a project as a required assignment or ask the class to work as a group on a project.
- You may simply encourage sign up for an open project (e.g. a clean-up project, food shelter work).
Faculty members not participating in Day of Service projects with any specific classes or groups can sign up as individual volunteers online. Registration will be made available soon!
