Faculty members are encouraged to develop service projects for courses. If you choose to develop a project for your class, whether tied to your curriculum or as a team-building exercise, please fill out the Project Proposal Form.
If you do not plan to host a service project, please remember to include Tuesday, Sept. 15 as Day of Service and no classes will be held.
The following are sample inserts for your syllabi. This information will be reworded and sent to students during the first week of classes (three weeks prior to the event).
Option 1: Service-Learning Project
As a class, we will be working on a course-based project for the Day of Service. Please visit the following website (www.PhilaU.edu/dayofservice) from Sept. 1-4, 2009 and sign-up for the project designated for this class.
Option 2: Community Service Project [for team-building/class bonding]
As a class, we will sign-up for a service project at the following website (www.PhilaU.edu/dayofservice) from Sept. 1 to 4, 2009 designated for our course. Participation is expected as a class unless you have another course requiring you to participate as a class assignment. If you have a conflict of this nature, please notify the instructor by Sept. 1, 2009.
Option 3: Encourage students to participate in a service project of their choosing
We will not meet as a class on Sept. 15, 2009. However, your participation in the Day of Service is expected. Please visit www.PhilaU.edu/dayofservice from Sept. 1 to 4, 2009 and sign-up for a service project of your choosing, if you do not already have a class requirement to do so.
