STUDENT "WHAT IF'S"
  1. What if I am not sure how to sign up for Day of Service?

There are several ways to sign up for a Day of Service project. Students can sign up as part of:
    • A class or academic program
    • A club/organization
    • An athletic team
    • An individual volunteer

  2. What if my class is participating as a group project?

Some professors are signing up their classes as a service learning project for the curriculum or a way to a teambuilding exercise. The first step is to check your syllabi to see what your professors have documented regarding Day of Service. If you can’t find anything in the syllabi, ask your professors directly. If one of your classes is participating as a group service project, make sure to sign up for that project directly.

  3. If more than one of your classes is signing up for project, the question five below, “What if I am supposed to be volunteering with more than one class, club/org or team?” will guide in the right direction.

  4. What if I am part of a club/organization?

Some clubs/orgs on campus are participating as group service projects for Day of Service. Check with your club/org leaders to see if any of the groups you belong to are participating in a group project.

  5. If more than one of your clubs/orgs or classes is signing up for project, the question five below, “What if I am supposed to be volunteering with more than one class, club/org or team?” will guide in the right direction.

  6. What if I am a member of an athletic team?

All athletic teams are participating as groups for Day of Service. If you are an athlete, check with your coach to see what project you are signing up for and complete the online registration form. ONLINE REGISTRATION available soon!

If you are an athlete and also in a class that is participating as a group or if you are in a club/org that is signing up as a group, the question five below, “What if I am supposed to be volunteering with more than one class, club/org or team?” will guide in the right direction.

  7. What if I am supposed to be volunteering with more than one class, club/org or team?

If more than one of your classes, clubs/orgs or athletic team is signing up as a group project for Day of Service, it is up to you, the student, to discuss with each of your professors, club/org presidents/leaders and/or coaches about your group volunteering for Day of Service.

You are only obligated to be part of one Day of Service project. Some service projects are mandatory for class credit, team service involvement, etc. It is important you discuss group project commitments with your professors, club/org leaders and/or team coaches. Once you have discussed and decided which project you will be part of, sign up online.

  8. What if I want to sign up as an individual?

You can sign up as individual volunteers if you are not part of a class, club/org or athletic team that is already planning a service activity for you. First, check your class syllabi, club/org leaders and team coaches to make sure you don’t need to sign up as part of a group project. To sign up as an individual volunteer, go to the Day of Service registration form.
