Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Communication
BFA from Graphic Communications at Philadelphia University
MFA in Graphic and Interactive Design at the Tyler School of Art
From corporate identity to information architecture to illustration, Gavin Cooperís career has spanned many disciplines. There is, however, a common thread that connects it all: a passion for clear and effective communication accomplished through thoughtful design.
Gavin graduated with a BS in Graphic Design Communication from Philadelphia University. He then worked as a graphic designer at the Philadelphia agency Assemblage, where he was given responsibility for a diverse range of projects including corporate identity, packaging, exhibit design and web site development.
In 2002, Gavin was named Design Lead at a large financial institution. Working closely with developers and information architects, Gavin spearheaded the redesign of the companyís internal and external web sites. The scope and complexity of the project gave Gavin a deep understanding of web usability, which continues to inform his work today.
Gavin received his MFA in Graphic and Interactive Design at the Tyler School of Art in 2006. That year, he founded Cooper Graphic Design with his wife Michele. Their work together has been widely recognized for its distinctive style and strategic insight.
In addition to his design work, Gavin has taught at accredited institutions such as University of Pennsylvania and Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
Gavinís work has been featured in national and international design publications, including Communication Arts, PRINT, HOW Magazine, and CMYK Magazine.
