Götz Unger is the founding Director of the Industrial Design Program. He has a background in design education, design-development and design consulting. As a corporate design development manager he was responsible for research, design, development, the manufacturing engineering and the coordination of pilot runs for new product lines. In his function as director of the design development department of a mid-sized manufacturer of furniture and housewares products, he developed the company's management structure for the design and development of new products. As an independent designer he marketed his designs in Europe and the US, primarily through the contract furniture industry. His clients include Hille International, Knoll International, Davis Furniture Industries, Brayton International and Steelcase. He is the recipient of several design awards.
