Marcia Weiss is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Textile Design program, in the School of Design and Engineering at Philadelphia University. As a specialist in woven design, Professor Weiss teaches advanced studio courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

An active member of the textile design industry with more than 25 years of experience, Professor Weiss served as vice president of styling in the home furnishings design and product development fields. Her responsibilities included all design, trend, and technical aspects of textile products for the home. These roles involved extensive national and international travel for customer presentations, trend research and sourcing.

Professor Weiss is an internationally exhibited artist, with works held in private collections in Europe and the United States. Her fiber-based work has been exhibited in solo shows in the U. S. and France, as well as in juried shows and invitationals.

Professor Weiss is a member of the board of the Perkins Local Advisory Council at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She is an active member of numerous trade organizations including: Handweavers Guild of America, Surface Design Association, and American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.

In addition to her university responsibilities, Professor Weiss maintains an active consulting business, working with clients in home furnishings and specialty textiles. Professor Weiss provides color and trend direction, market research, and design and technical support to her clients.
