Carolina Alumni Scholarship

“Being able to wake up every morning and do what I love to do is the greatest gift of all. The Carolina Alumni Scholarship provides me with support that enables this golden opportunity. Knowing that products I have put blood, sweat, and tears into could enhance life across the globe is truly exciting. Although Industrial Design may be my passion, it does not mean that it doesn’t get frustrating. The Carolina Alumni Scholarship helps motivate me to spend a little extra time sketching or studying when the going gets tough.

“I was born and raised in Morganton, N.C., and am fortunate for that. But I am even more fortunate to be able to attend PhilaU and live in Philadelphia. This has helped me become a more well-rounded person and designer than would have been possible if I had stayed in North Carolina. For this opportunity, I thank the donors to the Carolina Alumni Scholarship and hope to one day return the favor and help another adventurous individual study and live in the City of Brotherly Love.”

The Carolina Alumni Scholarship was established in 2003 by alumni living in North and South Carolina to encourage and support students from either state to attend Philadelphia University. Scholarship recipients must be a permanent resident of North or South Carolina, and they are selected by the PhilaU Office of Financial Aid based on financial need and academic excellence in their field of study.

According to David L. Morgan ’65, Carolina Alumni Scholarship Development Council Chair:

“The goal of the Carolina Alumni Scholarship Development Council is to raise $100,000. As of October 2013, the scholarship is valued at $76,000 thanks to the hard work of the Committee and the generosity of alumni, friends, and corporations in North and South Carolina. We need your help to reach our goal and to help future generations of students from the Carolinas. Please consider making a contribution today.”
