Service Animal Policy

The Americans with Disabilities Act defines a service animal as “any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained
to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.”

Students are permitted to use service animals on campus if they meet
the following requirements:

  • Any animal being used as a service animal is required to wear a recognizable identification symbol at all times.

  • Students using service animals should present documentation to the Disability Services Office from a veterinarian stating
that the animal is currently in good health.

  • The Disability Services Office reserves the right to request documentation that the animal has been trained to act as a
    service animal.

  • A service animal may be excluded from campus when disruptive or threatening behavior is observed. Incidents of this
nature will be dealt with on an individualized basis through the coordinator of Disability Services.
