FACULTY


The faculty includes physicians, advanced-practice nurses, paramedics and physician assistants with vast expertise in the field of disaster medicine. The faculty has substantial clinical and educational experience, and have written chapters in major textbooks in disaster medicine.

 

The faculty teaching in the program include:

 

Jean B. Will, EdD, RN, MSN, CEN, EMT-P (Program Director):
Dr. Will is a nurse and paramedic with more than 30 years
experience in emergency medical services and education. She is a regional leader in emergency-management education. Dr. Will is certified by the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security at the CHS Level III. She is also active with the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the Delaware County
Critical Incident Stress Management team.

 

Steven J. Parrillo, DO, FACOEP, FACEP (Medical Director):
Dr. Parrillo is the Medical Director for the Philadelphia University Disaster Medicine and Management Program; Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Germantown Community Health Services; Chairman, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Emergency Management Committee; Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Moss Rehab and Einstein
at Elkins Park; and Director of the Albert Einstein Medical Center HAZMAT Program. He was the Site Director for the HRSA Bioterrorism Training and Education grant. He has more than 22 years experience as a board certified, emergency-medicine physician, serves on the faculty of three universities, and is widely published in emergency and disaster medicine.

 

Charles D. Bortle, MEd, RRT-NPS, NREMT-P (Coordinator):
Mr. Bortle has been a paramedic and respiratory therapist for more than 26 years. He is currently the Director of the EMS Education Center at the Albert Einstein Health System and a flight paramedic. He has more than 22 years experience in EMS education and expertise in distance learning.

 

Robert Crawford, EdD, MS, LPC, BCETS:
Dr. Crawford is a New Jersey-licensed professional counselor and a nationally board-certified counselor. He is also a diplomat and board-certified expert in traumatic stress with the American
Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Dr. Crawford maintains a private counseling practice in southern New Jersey treating adults and adolescents recovering from traumatic loss. Most recently, he served as a consultant for the training, planning and coordination of emergency mental-health response with New Jersey’s Division of Mental Health-Disaster and Terrorism Branch.

 

David Jaslow, MD, MPH, FAAEM:
Dr. Jaslow is a board-certified, emergency-medicine physician who completed his Master’s in Public Health and Disaster Medicine fellowship at George Washington University Medical Center. He is the chief of the Division of EMS, Operational Public Health and Disaster Medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center. He has taught and published extensively in emergency medicine, disaster medicine and disaster public health.

 

John Krimm, DO, FAAEM, FACEP:
Dr. Krimm practiced as a board-certified, emergency-medicine
physician for more than 23 years, and was an attending
physician and teaching faculty in the Department of Emergency
Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Krimm has been
very involved with the didactic and clinical education of
physicians, physician assistants and paramedics for many years. He has served as faculty at several universities and teaching hospitals. He is the Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program at Philadelphia University. His academic interests include trauma, pharmacotherapeutics, pre-hospital care, medical ethics, and domestic-violence screening.

 

Aaron Richman, EMT-P, MBA:
Mr. Richman, formerly a captain with the Jerusalem Police, is a
paramedic with vast experience in emergency management, law enforcement and counterterrorism in the United States and Israel. He is currently the Program Coordinator for the Center for Special Operations Training at the Albert Einstein Health System.
