Activities 2009
- Implement newly infused Asian material in principles of marketing, principles of management & principles of economics.
- Curricular development: new course development for Mandarin, doing business in China, Asian supply chain management.
- Visit Taiwan with delegation in support of summer programs.
Activities 2008
- April 2008, second East Asia symposium for SMEs. Approx 125 local business and government representatives attended:"Taiwan & Hong Kong: Gateway to Asia".
- Spring 2008 Initiate Philadelphia University as host of the “Getting into the Trade Game” taught by US Export Assistance Bureau and Small Business Association.
- Spring-Summer 2008 Plan East Asia business symposium in conjunction with US Commercial Service, HKTDC, Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Continental Airlines.
- Summer 2008 Design East Asia Business Center website.
- Summer 2008 Commence curriculum review of East Asia Studies, Mandarin and appropriate international business coursework.
- Summer-Fall 2008 organize third business symposium "Passage to India" event for business/professional/student participants for Philadelphia audience.
- Fall 2008 continue contact with Chinese University of Hong Kong and Baptist University to facilitate study abroad.
- Fall 2008 Organize faculty/graduate student for East Asia consulting services to a pilot audience.
- Fall 2008 Convene East Asia-Hong Kong Business Center Advisory Board.
- October 2008 Host 2nd East Asia Business symposium at Philadelphia University: "Passage to India" with about 100 SME's both American & India governmental officials from India as speakers.
- December 2008 Travel with faculty delegation to Hong Kong for "Business of Design" week and "Inno Design Tech Expo." in support of DEC(Design, Engineering & Commerce intiative).
Activities 2007
- March 2007 - First annual regional East Asia-Hong Kong Business Center symposium for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). Approximately 150 local business and government representatives in attendance at "Hong Kong Gateway to Opportunity".
- September/October - Hong Kong/East Asia trade focus groups (local business people, alum, faculty) to identify community interests and needs.
- Fall 2007: Dissemination to SMEs regional East Asia trade events. Identification of business and academic EA-HKBC participants. Explore Hong Kong internships for Philadelphia University students.
