Hollywood Stars’ Red Carpet Design Competition
Gene London’s Hollywood Stars’ Historic Costume Collection Fashion Show
to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Screen Actors’ Guild.
Sponsored by Fashion Group of Philadelphia, Educational Foundation, a $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to one of these Philadelphia University Fashion Design Majors. The designs created by our students focus on what Hollywood Stars would wear on the “Red Carpet.”
This special design competition will offer six Scholarship awards to the one winning “Red Carpet” fashion design student from each of the six colleges participating. These special Scholarships will be awarded at the May 1st event.
This event is open to the public. Ticket RSVP and payment forms are available in Room 112 HH with Mrs. Garvey.

The Fashion Group International/Philadelphia offers encouragement and advancement to students pursuing an education in the fields of Fashion Design, Textile Design and Fashion Merchandising by offering scholarships to qualified college students from Albright College, Drexel University, Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia University, The Art Institute of Philadelphia and The University of Delaware.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the Geoffrey Beene Foundation have established The Geoffrey Beene Scholar Award - a special award within the CFDA’s existing Scholarship Program, which will identify the most exemplary and innovative women’s wear design student, based on specific guidelines.
This prestigious new design award program brings the work of the legendary American fashion desiner Geoffrey Beene into classrooms at country’s leading design colleges and universities. A specialized teaching curriculum designed for THE GEOFFREY BEENE SCHOLAR AWARD will challenge students to look beyond conforming to common trends and the practicality of business in order to advance the art form.
The GEOFFREY BEENE SCHOLAR AWARD shall be awarded to a full-time junior student who is on track to earn his/her BFA or equivalent undergraduate degree in fashion design, as offered. This $25,000 award will be based solely on merit, as judged by a prestigious panel of industry experts.
