We are also pleased to welcome you, as parents and family members, to the Philadelphia University Community and want to extend that welcome at our Family START Program.
Sending a child off to college is a difficult experience, as it marks not only a major transition in his or her life, but also in yours. Although college may represent the first time students will be “on their own,” parents will continue
to play a critical role in their college students' development, learning and education. Students report that input from their parents is one of the most significant influences on the decisions they make early in their college careers. Informed parents can and do have a tremendous impact
on their student?s success in college.
The Family START Program at Philadelphia University is a two-day program specifically designed to educate parents on first-year academic and social transition issues, discuss how parental encouragement and interest helps students optimize opportunities in college, and assist with the transition and separation process for parents.
While there will be some opportunity for student and families to connect during START, the majority of sessions throughout the START program will be separate.
