ENVIRONMENTAL SELF-STUDY
CONCLUSION: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
This Self-Study was not written simply to be read by the campus community and placed on the shelf among other reports done in the past. This study was initiated and compiled with the anticipation of the implementation of these recommendations. The Study also serves as a foundation on which future campus environmental studies can be built. It is not our contention that this report is final in that there are no other recommendations to be made. We have set what we feel are the basic and most achievable goals on which to base future campus planning.
The question is, how do we use this report effectively to reach our goal of a greener campus? To answer this question, we have listed the basic steps needed to be taken in order to realize the full potential of this document and all that it stands for.
- Approve a 75% compliance rule for each section of the Self-Study giving priority to the recommendations requiring legal compliance.
- Charge the Green Planning Committee (GPC) and the Textile Recycling & Environmental Enthusiasts (T.R.E.E.) to assist in developing a strategic plan to implement the proposed recommendations.
- Assist and provide the GPC and T.R.E.E. with both the financial and institutional support needed to successfully assist in implementing the proposed recommendations.
- Allow for follow-up Environmental Self-Studies to be conducted at least every two years to evaluate the College's progress as it relates to the environment, and the first Self-Study.
