The purpose of the thesis workshop is to promote the idea that the time to begin working on graduate research is the moment of enrollment. The first day you enter a class, you should begin talking to faculty about your ideas.

What about your program and the field that interested you enough to begin graduate work? Talk to your faculty, talk to others in your program, and whenever you have the opportunity, talk to professionals about your ideas.

The ideas that brought you to the decision to pursue a graduate degree is often the basis for your graduate research, your thesis, dissertation, or  your final piece of work.

The purpose of this workshop is to help you get started and is aimed at students entering the broad range of graduate programs offered at Philadelphia University. So while the title might be "Thesis Workshop" it is a broad presentation aimed at all forms of research and work, including design, architecture, business, engineering and health sciences.

Most have a definite time frame when they begin a program. Capstone courses that involve some form of research often cause difficulties and may slow some people down or rethink their original goals. It is our hope that this workshop and similar activities help keep you on track and  help meet your expected time to degree completion.

There will be a series of three workshops that are mandatory for students enrolled in any thesis class. The schedule will be posted shortly, but in the meantime, you may contact Dr. Patricia Thatcher (ThatcherP@PhilaU.edu) for details.
