Tommy Hilfiger Inspires Students during PhilaU Visit Designer and fashion apparel business leader Tommy Hilfiger visited PhilaU in October, touring design classes, giving students feedback on their designs and sitting for a lively Q&A before an audience of almost 1,000 students, faculty, staff and prospective stu- dents. Hilfiger, the recipient of PhilaU’s prestigious 2011 Spirit of Design Award, started in the business with $150 earned working at a gas station, selling jeans out the back of his car.
