Outstanding Faculty Honored Interior Design Professor Receives National Innovative Education Award Lauren Baumbach, associate professor and director of the interior design program, was awarded the 2012 Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Innovation in Interior Design Education Merit Award, a prestigious national award. The award, granted to one or two professors from all CIDA-accredited design programs each year, celebrates innovative teaching and excellence in interior design education. Baumbach has been a member of the Philadelphia University faculty since 1983. Under her leadership as director, the interior design program has gained prestige among practitioners in the field. Graphic Design Professor among GD USA’s ‘Most Influential Graphic Designers Working Today’ Frank Baseman, associate professor and program director of graphic design communication, was recognized on a list of the “Most Influential Graphic Designers Working Today” by Graphic Design USA Magazine. Baseman began teaching at PhilaU in 1998. In addition to teaching and overseeing the graphic design communication program, Baseman is the principal of Baseman Design Associates, an award-winning graphic design firm. Baseman has served on the national board of directors for AIGA, the professional association for design, and in 2008 he was awarded the AIGA Philadelphia Fellow Award. 44 • Profession, Career, Edge
