Admission Requirements

Admission

  • Students with a H.S. GPA of 3.50 and 1100 SAT (without the writing) are invited to honors during the admissions process to the University.
  • Students admitted into Honors should take an honors course in the first year.
  • Students who make the Dean’s List in the first semester are eligible to join honors and may enroll for the spring semester of the first year.
  • Students may be nominated for Honors by faculty in the first year.
  • Continuing and transfer students should petition the Director for admission to Honors.

Courses

  • Honors courses must be taken for a grade.
  • In order to earn Honors credit for the course, students must earn at least a C+.
  • Honors students should take one honors course per semester until they have completed the 6-course academic core.
  • All honors coursework appears on the transcript.
  • Reflections on all honors work should be represented in the Honors ePortfolio.

  • Contribute (Service) Cornerstone
  • Adapt (Global Awareness) Cornerstone
  • Act (Professional Expertise) Cornerstone
  • Question (Research) Cornerstone
  • Reflections on all honors work should be represented in the Honors ePortfolio.

Good Standing

  • Honors students should have a 3.0 to progress to the second year in Honors.
  • Honors students should have a 3.25 to progress to the third year in Honors.
  • Honors students should have a 3.35 to progress to the fourth year in Honors.
  • Honors students must have a 3.40 to complete the program.

Graduation

Students who complete the honors curriculum will receive:

  • The Honors Certificate
  • The Honors Stole
  • The Honors Medallion
  • Recognition at the Honors Graduation Celebration
  • Recognition at Commencement

Activities

  • Honors Student Association plans activities around town and on campus.
