TITLE OF POSITION:

 Assistant/Associate Professor, Graphic Design Communication

STATUS:

 Full-time, non tenure track, renewable contract     

DEPARTMENT:

 School of Design and Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be someone that embraces design as artifact, celebrates process and promotes strategic design thinking, as well as someone that shares the vision from the University’s 2008-2013 Strategic Plan, which integrates design, engineering and business, a curricular initiative derived to prepare graduates to excel in their discipline and to lead in interdisciplinary, professional environments.

A minimum of 3-5 years of industry work experience with strong evidence of excellent conceptual and technical ability; University or college-level teaching experience beyond Graduate Assistant or TA preferred; traditional design skills and training required; additional interactive/web design skills a strong plus; excellent communication, writing and problem-solving skills; competency (if not fluency) with Macintosh (and PC) platforms a plus.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

 M.F.A. or M.S. (or equivalent advanced degree) in Graphic/Communication Design, Digital/Interactive Design or related area of focus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include (potentially) teaching across the curriculum from freshmen to senior-year; required participation in maintaining, shaping and broadening the curriculum, as well as developing new interdisciplinary curriculum; required participation in on-going service to the Graphic Design Communication program, as well as the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce and Philadelphia University, including advising students and service on University committees; willingness to teach across the curriculum; and ability to teach in an interdisciplinary environment.
