QUALIFICATIONS:

-Master’s degree in student development, higher education administration or related field.

-Previous residence life experience with a minimum of two years post undergraduate experience. Supervision experience preferred. 

-An understanding of college student development and an appreciation for a diverse student population.

-Dedication to supporting the academic, personal, physical and emotional success of all students.

-Ability to educate and foster community living; establish and enforce appropriate standards, and appreciate the value of residence hall living.

-Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office including Word, Access, Excel and Publisher.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Area Coordinator (AC) for Residence Education is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position. The AC supervises and manages two Residence Coordinators (RCs) and the Resident Assistant (RA) staff.  The AC responds to student and parent concerns, participates in an on-call, emergency management rotation, serves as a judicial hearing officer, manages room changes and monitors facilities. The Area Coordinator is expected to be a visible presence in the Ravenhill Campus. As such, some evening hours are expected as well as attendance at evening events. In addition, the AC assists in the development and management of the Residential Community Curriculum, assists with Resident Assistant training, and departmental assessment.

Compensation for the Area Coordinator position is commensurate with experience and includes on-campus housing and a $1,000 meal declining balance.
