QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s Degree in Student Development, Higher Education Administration or related field.

2. An understanding of college student development and an appreciation for a diverse student population.

3. Support the academic, personal, physical and emotional success of all students.

4. Ability to educate and foster community living; establish and enforce appropriate standards, and appreciate the value of residence hall living.

5. Previous residence life experience with a minimum of two years post undergraduate experience. Supervision experience preferred.  

6. Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office including Work, Access, Excel and Publisher.

7. Previous experience using StarRez and/or Advocate Simplicity software preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Area Coordinator (AC) for Housing and Judicial Affairs is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position. The AC supervises and manages two Residence Coordinators (RCs) and the Resident Assistant (RA) staff.  The AC responds to student and parent concerns, participates in an on-call, emergency management rotation, serves as a judicial hearing officer, manages room changes, and monitors facilities.  The Area Coordinator is expected to be a visible presence on campus.  As such, some evening hours are expected as well as attendance at evening events.  In addition, the AC assists in the development and management of Judicial Affairs/Student Conduct, occupancy management, housing selection/assignment, and summer housing.

Compensation for the Area Coordinator position is commensurate with experience and includes on-campus housing, and a $1000 meal declining balance.
